Heritage Academy is an international missions school in Chiba, Japan, and the flagship school of GCEC — the Global Christian Education Center, a Japanese non-profit. The school is designed as a six-year program for Grades 7 through 12. Classes are taught in English with Japanese-language support, Bible & Christian Studies sits in the core curriculum alongside math and science, and students of any nationality, language background, or faith are welcome.
Heritage equips students in language, culture, and character. Middle School covers Grades 7 and 8; High School covers Grades 9 through 12 and leads to the Heritage Academy diploma. Dual-enrollment coursework with our partner college is available from Grade 10 through Grade 12, where students can earn U.S. college credit alongside the diploma.
Our first year is Grade 7 and Grade 9. Grade 8 and Grade 10 are added the following year, and a grade is added each year after that as our founding classes move up, until Heritage offers the full Grades 7 through 12. Each program has its own pages — step through either door above to learn more.
Heritage Academy is working towards accreditation and is in partnership with local and global educational organizations to ensure quality academics and oversight. Upon entering grades 10 through 12, students can earn U.S. college credit through our partner university.

About the Middle School ·
The Middle School serves Grades 7 and 8 across three terms — Summer, beginning in the last week of May, then Fall from August and Spring from January. Students carry eight subjects. Every class is taught in English, and a grade-level ESL class meets every day. These two years are preparatory rather than credit-bearing, and growth is benchmarked with TOEFL and IELTS. Christianity sits in the core curriculum alongside faith-related activities through the year, the school's values (真・智・望 — truth, wisdom, and hope), and parents welcomed as co-educators.
Enrollment ·
The Middle School welcomes students of any nationality, language background, or faith. There are two ways into Grade 7: the Bridge Term, which runs every year from the first weekday of April to the last weekday of June for students entering Grade 7; or direct entry at Grade 7 when the school year begins in the last week of May. In our first year the Middle School enrolls Grade 7 only; Grade 8 is added the following year. If your Grade 7 applicant has siblings, please contact the admissions office about additional enrollment options. An English assessment is part of the admissions process, with some prior English required for acceptance. Every enrolling family agrees to the Code of Conduct. Enrollment follows four steps:
I
Send us a note with your child's current grade and school. We will follow up with upcoming information sessions, open house dates, and the application window for your entry year.
II
Information sessions and family meetings introduce the six-year program, the planned partner-college dual-enrollment program for Grades 10 through 12, the school day, and the Code of Conduct — in Japanese and English.
III
Families submit an application with school records, and applicants take an English assessment. Some prior English is required for acceptance.
IV
Admitted families complete enrollment and sign the Code of Conduct.
Enrollment and application dates will be announced soon. Fees and required documents vary by entry year and entry grade. Annual tuition ranges from ¥850,000 to ¥1,000,000 (85〜100万円) per student. Please contact the admissions office for the current schedules, fees, and tuition rates.

Yes. An English assessment is part of the admissions process, and some prior English is required for acceptance. Every class is taught in English, a grade-level ESL class meets every day, and progress is benchmarked with TOEFL and IELTS.

Heritage runs one calendar for the whole school: three terms, beginning with the Summer Term in the last week of May, then Fall from August and Spring from January. A student's grade level is set as of the start of that last week of May. Heritage does not follow Japan's April–March school year. Term dates for our opening year will be announced with our opening date.
No. The Middle School years are preparation, not credit.
Heritage Academy is a Christ-centered school. Bible & Christian Studies is part of the core curriculum at every grade, alongside faith-related activities through the year. There is no religious requirement for admission or graduation, and students and families of any faith are welcome — every enrolled family agrees to the school's Code of Conduct.
The Bridge Term runs every year from the first weekday of April to the last weekday of June, for students entering Grade 7 only. It is part of Grade 7 rather than a separate or optional pre-term, and it is open to students coming from outside Heritage. There is no Bridge Term for students entering any other grade.
High School, Grades 9 through 12. Grade 9 is taught as Heritage courses. From Grade 10, dual enrollment with our partner college is available, where students can earn U.S. college credit alongside the Heritage diploma.
Information sessions run throughout the year, and families are welcome to visit the campus.

Heritage runs three terms a year: Summer, beginning in the last week of May and taught in person on campus; Fall from August; and Spring from January, with Grade 12 running August to May and graduating in May. Four core subjects run every term — mathematics, science, English and social studies — alongside Christianity, PE & Health, Art, a daily grade-level ESL class and elective blocks. Grade 9 is taught as Heritage courses; dual enrollment with our partner college is available from Grade 10. Tap any subject below to see the courses it carries.
Which course runs in which term is set by grade, and the term-by-term sequence is published before applications open.
Note: Partner-college credit is not required for a Heritage Academy high school diploma. Dual enrollment is available in Grades 10 through 12, with a ceiling of 10 college courses and 30 U.S. college credits per student, beginning when our founding class reaches Grade 10. Grades 11 and 12 are not offered in our first year; they are added as our founding class moves up. The Grades 10–12 partner-college course list will be published once confirmed with our partner college. Summer Terms run from the last week of May through June and are taught in person on campus.
About the High School ·
The High School is designed as four years, Grades 9 through 12, across three terms a year. In our first year we will offer Grade 9, adding a grade each year as our founding class moves up. Grades 9 and 10 build the core in Heritage courses — composition, literature, world and US history, algebra, geometry, biology and chemistry — counting toward the Heritage Academy diploma. The first diplomas are awarded when our founding Grade 9 class completes Grade 12.
Dual enrollment with our partner college is available from Grade 10 through Grade 12. Each partner-college course may be taken for U.S. college credit alongside the Heritage diploma, or for Heritage credit only, and is paired with teacher-led review and study hall. Japanese-language study is available in the elective blocks.

Heritage Academy works with a U.S. partner college for the planned dual-enrollment program. A Heritage teacher presents the college's lectures in the classroom. Students enrolled on the college's roster are graded by the partner college and earn U.S. college credit; students taking the same course for Heritage credit sit in the same classroom and are held to a Heritage standard. Dual enrollment is available from Grade 10 through Grade 12.
Yes, from Grade 10 through Grade 12: up to 10 college courses and 30 U.S. college credits per student, earned alongside the Heritage Academy diploma. Grade 9 is taught as Heritage courses, not college courses.
No. A student who takes every partner-college course for Heritage credit graduates with the same Heritage Academy diploma.
